Motor Trend and Edmunds have both tested the new Camaro

Link: Motor Trend's Test

Link: Edmunds Test

Motor Trend had a better 0-60 time.

Edmunds compared the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger R/T and picked the Camaro 1st, Mustang 2nd, and the Challenger 3rd.

The first shipment of Camaros is on it's way to dealerships!

The black car and silver car on the bottom are going to Rick Hendrick. Vin #100001 and Vin #100002

I will be visiting the Hendrick cars.... The Chevy LSX pushrod motors are just simply the best thing out there. Trust me, lots of us old school Chevy guys were very resistant to the change. I saw some info that showed GM having 0 catastrophic engine failures per million units, and Toyota was next best with 14  Us Chevy guys got beat up on with the 5.0 in the 80's and 90's. Once the LS-1 came out, Ford just never could match it without a supercharger(and many times not then). The best thing about Chevy is when they told us we were making 325 hp at the flywheel ('02 SS), we would steady knock off 315-318 at the tires with a stock motor! The Mustang claimed 300 and would lay down 200 at the tires......There was a big shakeup over that deal! The new Camaro is knocking off 13 flat on street tires......A set of headers and sticky tires are gonna put this thing in the mid 12's, maybe better. WOW!

Everyone I know is impressed by the stunning looks of the Mustang, and it is a beauty for sure, but we would only consider it as the wife's car. The Challenger is another stunning car, but it doesn't take much time dealing with the Hemi to know you are dealing with a fuel injected version of the same old stuff. I love the Hemi for it's looks though.......

I'm a huge fan of pushrod motors. You're right, GM took a licking in the 80's and early 90's until the LT-1 made it out on the scene. That Camaro was a 14 second car on stock tires, with a 165 mph top speed. A speed that today's Mustang GT can't reach.

The Mustang has a cool look, but it's the same car as last year's model with slight refinements. Of course they offer the GT500, GT500KR and the Super Snake, but for $70-80 grand, I'd buy a Z06 and hand them their ass.

I'm a huge fan of the LS3 motor in my car. To think it pushes the the Camaro through the quarter mile at 13 seconds and 0 to 60 in 4.6 seconds is amazing. Ford will still continue to outsell the Camaro due to the act they produce 135,000 units a year vs. Camaro and less than half of that number.

I think the Mustang has historically outsold the Camaro. I am a little torn by what Chevy did here. They built a car that "feels" like a 67-68 on the outside and a 69 on the inside. Then they put it through the wind tunnel to make it functional. Ford and Chrysler decided to make aerodynamic bricks to keep the look which may end up being the better marketing tool. I hope this car does well in sales just to keep the Camaro name alive.

I think the L-99 moniker is just a rehash number. As far as I can tell the Camaro L-99 is a LS based motor. You know, much like the L-92 in the truck like is lightyears ahead of the L-92 TPI in my 91 B4C Z/28. Nothing was shared except the name on the valve covers.

Don't forget about the 03-04 Cobras. Those were WICKED cars, with a very resonable price tag. With VERY little work you have your self a over 500RWHP car.

If you feel like droping 3500 on a twin turbo set-up (yes, ontop of the supercharger) your making over 1000RWHP on pump gas. With the only supporting mod needed is a clutch.

L-99 is the newest engine in the 2010 Camaro's lineup.  The L-99's block, cylinder heads, crankshaft, and connecting rods-along with the intake manifold and throttle body are all shared with the LS3. The L99 is best thought of as a "higher-tech" LS3. It features Active Fuel Management (like in the like Pontiac's G8 and Holden's Commodore) and Variable Valve Timing.

The thing that stands out with the Cobra, IRS and an underated engine. A few quick bolt ons and you were cooking with 500hp!!!!

It's a shame the Mustang GT500 is on a wagon axle.

Yea, I dont understand Ford sometimes. They really had a good, unique car on their hands, then dumped after two years. IRS on a sports car could be very cool.  LOL, kinda like the Polaris Outlaw.

I LOVE the sound of the Supercharger on the Cobras. WICKED!

Not to many motors out there will handle 1000+HP with NO internal mods.

You must be refering to the 4 cylinder Camaro that was available in the 80's. It was the LQ9 L4. It had 88 horsepower.

The Mustang in 1980's had a motor that was identical. It was a 2.3L that also produced 88 hp.

1995 was the last year for the Mustang to have any balls. The 5.0L motor was the best motor ever in the Mustang in my opinion. There were two, versions of the 5.0L The 210 hp version and the 240 hp Cobra version.

Cobra also had the 5.8L that was rated at 300, but was closer to 330-340hp. Awesome motor.

The 1992 Camaro (3rd Generation) was the last for GM's five motor choices. The 5.0L and 5.7L GM motors produced 230 and 245hp.

Then came the LT1 and GM got their manhood back.

Then Ford cought on and turbo charged it. Have you ever seen a well modded SVO run. Hardest runnin 4 cylinders you'll ever see!! Flat out amazing! Another example of a good motor de-tuned to chit

Oh yeah, love that whine!!!!

Too bad they have to strap a supercharger on it to make 500+ horsepower. Just kidding.

Strap a supercharger on an LS3 and you'll make 650-700 by changing the injectors only. Add one to the LS7 and make 850-900.

Of course, if you want the warranty, you'll have to pony up $115K for the 638hp LS9 powered Zr1.
