Chain roller replacement??
« on: June 01, 2009, 04:23:02 PM »
Hi, new to the forum, first post.  Anyway, I recently acquired a 2007 Raptor 700r and I love it.....

I've been hearing like a zinging/bearing type growl under braking and it sounds like it's coming from the front sprocket area.  I did some checking, and it looks like the lower chain roller is loose/noisy.  Is this common problem on these raptors?  Should I replace it with a oem part, or is there a upgraded aftermarket one you guys can recommend that will last longer?

Thanks in advance, Jason.

It's a common problem, The OEM one is just plan ol' garbage from the factory.

Where did you order it from?  Do you remember how much it was?  I found one on eBay Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chain-Roller-YFZ450-YFZ-450-Raptor-700R-700-R-LT230S_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ65Q3a12Q7c66Q3a2Q7c39Q3a1Q7c72Q3a1205Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem2c4ef593b3QQitemZ190303278003QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Anybody use that roller?

Thanks Jason

I have went threw 3 of these dam roller (oem and 2 moose).Right now me and a friend are currently machining different ones and coming up with a full proof one.The material is highfax and is very durable but yet not harsh and should last, also bearing wont be required...

i just packed the inside of my roller full of grease, kinda like a rear tire on a dirt bike... put rease around the center shaft and seal the ends... no more noise and works perfect

I just replaced mine with a TM design one. The one that was on there was also a TM and the bearings went before the roller did.

question. thinking about this more......

how did you make the rounds for the roller out of the hyfax... could you make a doughnut. and where the bold would be put through, get some skate board bearings. they are very durable and resiliant. also pretty quiet.

I just checked mine during a swing arm change and it is toast already so I am replacing it with the TM.
