1. I don't understand the question. Are you asking how many hours are currently on the motor or how many hours can you have before experiencing serious problems? You can develop a problem at any time period, but it depends mostly on how you maintain the bike.

My motor has approximately 75-85 hours on the motor, and my bike is a 2003 model.

2a. My motor is stock. I have a Full Yoshimura exhaust and the carbs are re-jetted.

2b. The right time to change your engine oil per Yamaha's guidelines is every 40 hours of use. Depending on riding conditions, (dusty or wet conditions) 20-25 hours of use. It's honestly a preference call with most owners. I choose to change it after every 15-20 hours of use.

3. The right time to change the piston would be indicated by a drop in power, or as Aaron said a compression test on the cylinder head.

4. Depends on who I'm with. My riding style is agressive, with several rest periods if I'm with a group. If I'm alone I don't get stupid just incase of an accident.

Unfortunately, there aren't many statistics on motor wear published within the ATV community.

Owners that build motors and bore their cylinder walls will experience more issues than the average three mod owner will ever experience. There are several reliable builds out there, but the more you bore the engine beyond factory specs, the more likely you are to have a failure.

1. over 140 on Vapor, probably 50 more than that, never had to get into motor except for mods. But with the addition of the Dynatk ignition controller and running my quad at over 9k rpms in 5th gear for an extended time I have developed some "lipping" at the lower ring reversal area, aka out of round. Didn't have time to fix it before a big trip and put it back together with the new piston, will fix soon enough though.

2. mods in sig.

3. usually once or twice a season.

4. depneds on how you ride it, see question one response.

5. ride it like its a different girl everytime. Hard and as long as possible.

I just recently went through the motor and have maybe 10 min on it, but before that.........
1)400-500 hours clutch started slipping in 3rd right before I rebuilt it
2)stock /with HC2 being my biggest mod (big5)
3)change oil/filter after every major ride (major ride being at least a half day of riding or more)
4)I'm guessing the minute you start seeing metal shavings in the oil and/or when you feel like ur motor isnt as strong as it used to be.... I'm really just guessing here
5) I ride it BALLZ OUT ALWAYS......

So many that I've stopped keeping track. I bought it new in 2006 when it first came out
2) is it a stock motor? what mods?
Stock motor.
2) how often do u change motor oil?
Once in spring, once mid-summer.
3) what is the wright time to change piston? how many hours?
Don't know. Never needed to do it on a Raptor.
4) how do u ride? normally or ride it like u stole it?)
A mix of inbetween. There's only so much the kidneys can take (my suspension is stock too.
