Mixing Octanes
« on: June 18, 2008, 07:23:03 PM »
I normaly run 87 or 89 in my raptor i dont remember, and the other day i dumped some 93 in it while there was still 87 or 89 in it, now its smoking like a banshee, a whitish blue smoke, when i rev it.

Is this my issue of am i in for a treat trying to find my issue?

I think im going to drain all the gas out, put 87 in there see if it smokes, if it does, drain all that out and put 93 in it and see if it smokes

I ran 93 in my 11.5:1 and it ran fine. You need higher than 87 or 89 though

Lets talk additives...

I dont want to F*ck with this damn thing again, its really pissing me off how much work it has needed lately, i havent ridden for 2 months wrenching on it everyday of those 2 months, except i did go riding once and it broke down twice and i had to get towed home.

If i can get the smoke to stop im gonna sell it immediatly and get a 700.

I have some stop smoke junk outside somewhere, you put a little in the crankcase and it supposedly seals the cylinder, do you think this will help?

Anything you could think of i should put in the gas?

I havent tried letting it fully warm up yet and see if it still smokes then? Could it just be that it is trying to warm up to burn the 93?

Also, if you guys remember that hole i had in my crankcase, i got it welded, and i didnt notice the smoke until after that?

Is there anything that you do when welding that could cause my engine to smoke? Anything that could have gotten in the crankcase or something?
