660 shocks on 700?

I found a pair of ohlins for cheap but there for the 660. can i put them on a 700?

My son took his Elkas off his 660 and put them on his 700. They are about 3/4" shorter but seem to work fine. I cannot see any difference from my 700 Elkas when the quads are side by side.
