I saw this coming back around 2007 ish... thought about moving back to my home town in cali. Nice suburban neighborhood, but not 5th avenue...., down the street from a good school. But the house was on the market for 640k!! when we moved out, it had sold for 120k. I thought to myself "how are people living like this....it's only a matter of time..."

That redneck is one of the guys who over extended himself and bought that fancy mobile home that went into default because as soon as he got some credit he bought everything he could. He was probably happy that the bankers would allow such horrible debt to income ratio's and still give him a loan. But everyone loves money so it happened. The real problem with the whole situation is that the banks were bailed out and not the people. They wanted a quick fix but it should of went like this. It would have kept everybody's credit and the economy going. But who the hell am I to fix the world. YOU DIDN'T ELECT ME!!!! not my fault

 Take all the bank records and everyone that is in default you bail out, you re-do their ARM mortgage into a fixed rate and re-asses their income, their REAL income. You set up a new payment plan,you might have to extend their term, but you will keep them in a house and your bank in monthly income and the credit in the plus. The houses would have only lost a little value compared to what they did. More people would have jobs, the impact would have been much less severe. And we would all be doing a lot better.
