08 or 09???
« on: August 20, 2008, 01:15:06 PM »
The speedometer is kinda a big deal to me so I dont know if I should just buy an 08 and get an after market one or just wait for the 09 to come out.  Are there any other advantages of the 09 that would make it a better buy than an 08?  Thanks guys

I'd check the prices to help your decision.  A trail tech Vapor will do what you need, and a complete set-up with mount is ~$200.  I bet the '08s will sell for far less than 200 compared to the '09

plus, if you change the tire size either smaller or bigger, that's going to affect your speed anyways. :batman:

I'd see what the price difference is going to be. If its within $500 go with the 09

On the 09 - the front shocks are slightly longer, adjustable front brake lever & the dash. IN 2008 the head casting had better flow as well.  I'm goin from memory,I think thats it  ???

my vote is for the 09. just because the new looks of them. i voted before reading what your looking for. but anyway. a friend of mine just bought a 08 raptor for about $6500 OTD i think he said it was. i would go with an 08 and just get the vapor kit.

i didnt even think about the tire size affecting the speedo...definitly somin to think about.  wouldnt there be some kinda way to adjust the speedo for tire size?  yamaha has to consider that people will change the tire sizes on it.

The "Average" person doesn't change tire sizes though, just by looking @ the quads that roll around my parents place. The TrailTech I don't believe there's a way to configure it for tire size. Don't quote me on that. There's one Bert had posted on here that seems FAR supperior and you can calculate in tire sizes as well.
