Home track-Great Lakes Dragaway

First off- my car
2002 Spitzer 4-link jr.dragster

Some pics from Great lakes this year...

about 4-5 feet out, and theres still wrinkle in the tire

Also raced in Byron a couple times

Not sure if anyone has heard of the ADRL or not? its a dragracing sanctioning body, similiar to the NHRA. Except this league, is all 1/8 mile outlaw door cars. I'm doing 7.90@82mph in the 1/8. These cars are doing 3.72@205 in the 1/8. Crazy stuff, oh and on 10.5" tires! Anyway, the owner of the ADRL, has a kid who runs jr's. So he includes them in the event. In order to get in to the 16 car field, you have to call ahead. For example, the St.Louis race, we called 3 months in advance, and were number 18 on the list. we ended up making it in. its just a first come irst serve type thing. The qualifying goes by reaction time. I was #9 with a .041. So, these races PACK the stands just like an NHRA race. Below, are the pictures from the ADRL race in St.Louis. Actual track name, was Gateway Raceway, in Madison, Illinois. Notice all the people? 63,482 strong I was racing in front of  8) I was on tv as well, it aired on the versus channel if anyone gets that channel. My Dad was about ready to run this dude over.

Car I beat first round, #8 qualifier. Kicker her ass on the tree, .011 to a .121.

Car I beat second round, #1 qualifier

the crowd on one side of the track

the bracket. I went red in the semi's by -.003 :'( I woulda won the race too

Next weekend, we raced at Indy. Yes, the Indy. Two weeks before the pros were there.

usual time

Next stop, was another ADRL race. This one in Columbus Ohio.

Camera boom. Whenever I ran the left lane, the camera was all in my face as I was doing my burnout and staging, really cool.

My Dad using my Vholdr HD to take a video shown below :batman:

setting the idle

and for now.
The points sheet for my home track. Currently in 1st with one race to go!

Me this past saturday after I won the first points race.

Video's...

*****This video was a 330 run. Thats half track for us. I lifted at the 330, and he held it all the way, and we crossed the line at the same time . I had a .009 light also. View in full size. Taken with the Vholdr HD.

No real purpose to this video as you cant see shit, I just thought it sounded cool. lol

ummmm

As you can tell, the motor is based off of a Briggs&stratton platform. 2 valve single cam flathead blah blah real simpe. The brand name is called Blossom, and the motor is called the Rhino. It is a 3 1/2" bore X 3" stroke. Which equals 473 cc, and 29 cubic inches. Runs off of alcohol. Carb is a 42mm Mikuni. Clutch is a Shockwave O/D. The clutch is a centrifugal snowmobile style clutch. This is the EXACT SAME setup on a Polaris RZR. Computer is a Mychron 4 system. A badass little tool. With this I can view...

Exhaust gas temperature
Cylinder head temperature
idle
rpm all the way down the run
jackshaft
mph all the way
clutch overdrive percentage

and i bunch of other cool shit

this is a picture of a good run. you should be able to figure it out. The little spike in the jackshaft is not wheelspin, it is the tire wadding up on launch and then unraveling.

linkys..

**on other runs, I have the data from the time slip entered, so I can see exactly what the car is doing at the 60', 330'etc. and I can see how far out it shifts and stuff**

oh, and NHRA limits us to 7.90@83mph. To slow the car down to this time, we have a restrictor on the intake, and 50 pounds of weight in the car. Me in the car with the weight, is about 420 pounds. and these motors are around 55 horse

I usually 60 foot around 1.66, but last weekend we were hooking awesome and I was 1.62 all day.

With all the restricters and weight out I have run a 7.49. Best 330' was a 4.61

That's interesting.  I would think this would cause you to focus on the light and cutting a perfect reaction time.  A guy at work used to race Outlaw 10.5 and cut a perfect .000 one time.  Everybody was going nuts and he didn't know why till he saw the time slip.

Question:  Are you not allowed to go quicker than 7.90 OR faster than 83 mph?

What if you ran 7.91 at 85?  Not allowed?

It never occurred to me that you were using a CVT.  I rewatched the vids and thought it sounded like one tall gear.  I didn't figure it out.     I'm a little slow sometimes.

We dont race whoever gets to the finish line first wins, its bracket racing. whoever is closer to the dial in.

and for the limitations, 7.90 is the fastest we are allowed to dial in at. ever. if you run faster then your number you lose. as for the mph, it depends on the track really, and how big of an event. like at all my local tracks, they really dont care about the mph, but if you do run faster then a 7.90 it is an issue. for example last year we where at benton illinois and i was running 85 mph the whole weekend at that track and no one said a thing.

but, at the big events like the NHRA conference finals, if you run 83.01 or quicker twice, then you get the boot. it all depends on the track, but most people dont care about the mph, its all about the 7.90 e.t.

and temptation, i should be there next year

kramballs, the final points race is october 3rd at that track, but yes hoping for rain lol. no race this weekend, but i will be in oskaloosa iowa october 9th-11th i believe

***********SKIP TO 1:45 IN THIS VIDEO***************
I dialed a 7.98, and the other car dialed a 13.02. So I had to wait 5.04 seconds before I could go. As you can see, they went red so I won. We cross the line at the same time.
