2009 GT-R: Bargain supercar gets expensive

Holy cow!  A quote from the article:  "Consider this: Automatic Transmission Fluid (GT-R specific) lists for $114.98 per quart. That's not a typo-- maybe an accounting error on Nissan's side, but not a typo."  They go on to say the car holds ten quarts but they usually take less (eight in their case).

A friend of mine works for a Nissan dealer in Springfield, MO. He went to Las Vegas to a "ride and drive" to compar the GT-R, the Z06, and the 911.

He said the brakes on the car are $4000 to replace, and that if you change the wheels it voids the warranty.

I sent my friend that link and he verified that it's true.

He said when you sell a GT-R, you have to disclose services, and the costs involved in owning a GT-R. If you deviate from the maintenance schedule, it voids the warranty!

So much for using your own brand of oil.

i mean how are they gonna know if you use a different oil or diff, tranny fluid. And isn't there some kind of law that says if you use your own aftermarket item it can only void that part of the warranty. Like aftermarket brakes but if ur motor blows ur still covered...???

Scheduled maintenance needs to be logged at a Nissan dealer. If a failure were to occur, and they see no maintenance in the system, your warranty is voided.

Looks like they are finding ways to void your warranty.  Pretty sneaky.  You could do it yourself but then they won't log it in the system because you aren't a certified Nissan tech.  Then it becomes hard to prove the work was done.

You wuold want the warranty. The GT-R is full of electronics, and is very high tech car.
