I don't understand what he's saying. I know what he's doing, don't understand the terminology.
after you watch a few....maybe...
there is no set way, driver chooses terms.
all terms are upcoming road conditions. SO driver can paste foot to floor, or brake ahead of time....and prepare.
here are some
number=meters til landmark (jump, turn, crest, surface change)
hard,medium(pronounced "meed-jum"
) or easy=difficulty of turn.
minus or plus= off camber or banked...
cut, don't cut=obvious. take turn inside or go wide.
opens or tightens=do you floor it at the apex, or do you take it easy until turn straightens?
there's tons of them.....
exposure: cliff or dropoff OUTSIDE turn.
slippy: ice or mud
some drivers use numbers to grade curves. 4 right into 3 left etc...
they only get to drive each stage ONCE before the rally begins, in a regular car at legal speeds. taking notes as they go.
here is an example:
100 medium left opens 50 over crest jump maybe 100 easy right minus tightens into hairpin left opens
lol translate:
go 100 meters to 45 degree or so turn, floor it out of corner, go 50 meters and maybe jump, or just lose steering for a sec, go 100 meters into 30 degree or less turn that is off camber, and youll be sliding through, turning directly into handbrake sliding (pendulum) that you floor it out of.
the jump maybe is because they only got to drive it slow speed, so they dont know
the rally terms are much easier to say when going 100mph through the damned forest... agreed?
yeah I know I
out on that... sorry
