Intake testing on a big engine. FCI, TRF, Velocity, Fuel ATV and KDS

We had the opportunity to do a large intake test on Jade's big nasty 869. The baseline was a Velocity intake. We tested the FCI next, followed by the TRF, and then the KDS the last one was the Fuel ATV intake. I did not have a Pro Design on hand to test, but in all my testing it runs with all the above, but better than the Velocity.
I can't really declare a winner, the Fuel did post the best number but the differences were so small it's hardly a beating that it put on anything. If you have ever been involved in dyno testing you know that the differences below are small enough to call it a tie (besides the Velocity).
I know this will cause much debate, but we have never seen the advertised claims of big hp gains with the FCI Rocket Factory, or any other intake for that matter. I have tested the FCI on a few bolt on bikes and have not seen it make 1 hp over a Pro Design, same with TRF. I have even done the tests on mild build (pump gas stock valves ported 734's) and seen the same results. I was very eager to do this test on a big nasty machine and honestly I was not too surprised to see that there was not much difference in them on there either. I'm no intake scientist, but we are gear heads who have lots of time and experience with tuning, and intakes and what makes what go fast, and we thought that it would turn out about how it did. I'm not saying that others don't get the gains, or their tests are invalid, I am just saying I have not seen it. Nothing more nothing less. I know you all know the history of the intake throw down thread, so let me say one thing. I do not have any reason to make any of these intakes show better or worse than any other intake. If I did I would have had the runs I have of over 5 bikes with the big dog intakes not making more than .56 hp all over the net.
Basically my take on intakes is there are a lot of choices that are all good. Just buy yours from me!

Wow. This really comes as a shock to me.. Every post I read on RF about the FCI From FCI was it'd dyno 3-5 HP Above all others (I forget if that was the exact #'s they posted but I know it was somewhere in there..)

Great Job Kam!!! Now I know my lil' Pro-Design is good enough for my woods thumper. :batman:

All these kits run BIG air filters..........once again its all about what your build wants and needs out of an intake.......

REMEMBER: PEAK HP numbers are just one part of the deciding factor.
Over all hp/tq curve is just as improtant as peak numbers.
It may or may not be worth it for u to sacrifice a little low end power for high end over rev, depends or your riding style/conditions.
Your intake needs may change when changing your build.
TRY to get a few different ones to bring to u to the dyno

I guess just the fact that no matter how much people were skeptical, fci still claimed 3-5 HP gains over any other intake basically. so for it to be within 1hp.. Just more of a surprise. :)

We do see gains over adapter style intakes. Just ask Racers Edge what they used on the winning raptors this past weekend. actaully all of Kenz bikes to. I can show dyno sheets of theres that have actually won races. They gained 2 to 3hp over other intakes. I can show at least 5 tests from different shops with all gains.. amd yes it cures cancer also.
