I cant seem to get my valves out. The head is off the bike and all, but i cant seem to get the rocker arms out if that is what i need to do... All 4 are warped so its time for new...
:help:
Did you pull the rocker arm pivot pins out? You have to use a small slide hammer or an extraction kit....they're kinda pressed into the head.

ok cool, thanks. does anybody know the right thread size?
I think it is like 6mm but not 100% sure.
It is 6mm. You need abot 8-10 inches of all-thread and a nut to use it as a puller.
of course the home depot by me doesnt carry metric all thread
Ace hardware...Or you can just get the kit from DL700. I think it is about 20 bucks...
so of course no where around here has the 6mm all thread... my parts are in today and i could get it back together but need to put the new valves in. so as of now its holding me up :(
i know somebody on here has an alternate method to get the valves out?
Get some standard all thread that is close to 6mm then use a metric tap on it to re-cut the threads to metric.
Its rough cutting standard to metric. I'd suggest finding steel rod and cut threads that way.
That'd work too...Or get a longer metric bolt and just put a nut below the bolt head to push down on the spacer. I am not sure how long the ones in the "kit" are, haven't tried one myself yet. I've also heard of people using a small slide hammer to pull it out
i can get normal steel rod, then what do i do with it? how would i thread that?
Get a metric die and cut new threads into it...like one of these dies

good luck, let us know if you have any questions. :)
of course they dont have metric dies.
i finally found a place about a half hour away that has metric all thread though...
Damn wtf...What kind of place are you living in that has almost no metric parts in it? Glad you found some all thread though
Shepherdstown WV
So Timbuktu...that explains it
Just go visit kenny. just don't leave anything behind :help:
I got the rocker arms out and stuff, thanks for all the help with that.
What kind of tool do you guys use to get the valves out? I have 3 differant vavle tools but none can really fit in the head
Have to use a valve spring compressor to push down on it and remove the keepers...when someone did mine they used a cut socket on a c-clamp to push down on the spring. It has 2 keepers per valve and we removed them using a magnet.
ok cool, thanks
How's it coming? ???
The motor is back together, im putting it back in the frame today. Along with my new fuel controller and intake :D
Nice!
