Title: CCP owners
Post by: socalrappy700 on June 16, 2008, 07:00:14 AM
Well this product has been out for awhile.  Any complaints so far?  I need to add a stabilizer and I wanted to see how they have been holding up.  Preddy, your comments don't count because you went tweaker style and tried to take yours apart as soon as you got it.

Mine is doing just fine. No  complaints. The only thing I MIGHT complain about is is there is no set screw that sets it to the stem. It has not been a problem for me what so ever, but I would like the extra insurence that it wont slip on the stem.

Even though your a tweaker and your comments don't count.     So how does it set to the stem?

probably a clamp that wraps around the stem.

The Precision has a nice set screw. I'm sure you could drill/tap a hole on the CCP and put a allen head set screw in.

I might do that.  I'm still unsure about the ccp.  I love the price but I want to make sure it's as good as the precision.

I had a PEP stick style and the two are'nt even in the same league!! I honestly could not see how the prec. stabilizer could be any better. Mine has taken some hard hits and still has not moved.

I know a couple of guys have sold their prec. stab. when they tried out the CCP. You could buy three CCP's for the price of one prec.!

I could also buy 5 Saturns for the price of one Porsche.  I just want to make sure it is not just better in value but an equal in performance.

I remember that, I got in right after you.

There is an other group buy going on at modded raptor.

I was just stating that guys are selling their Prec. for the CCP and that the CCP is a third less money. To me its a no brainer. Also there is infinate adjustment on the CCP. You are not limited to just the clicks like others.

Have one on each Rappy and they have been performing very well... I have had no problems with the stem clamp staying tight or any other issues.....So far, the CCP has been an outstanding addition to stock...and it would be my FIRST mod on any future bikes. It really is a safety item..and it lets you go faster...Because you don`t get beat up with bump steer from the ruts and roots...and did I mention it lets you go faster...heh heh heh   :grin_nod:

The Precision is a great stabilizer, also and everyone that has them loves them....but the $300.00+ difference made me try this one and I`m glad I did..........Sandaddy  :)

I haven't got to use a ccp stabilizer yet, but I have a hard time believing its going to be better than a Precision considering Elka dropped the ball when they tried to out do the precision.

Hopefully I get to test out the ccp soon.

I don't think anyone is claiming the CCP to be better than the precision, just darn close. It may not be close enough to justify the price difference.

I have a Precision and my son has a CCP . We both have 700,s and will get to test them side by side in Baja next week. We will be on the beach "sand'  hard pack roads and rocky trails so it should be good comparison. I know how well my Precision works and the CCP is great looking with good reports from forum members. So in a couple weeks when we get back I will add my .02 worth.

I have a CCP & Precision & I may just sell the CCP without trying it.

I think it would be worth trying.  If you can't tell a difference it would be better to sell the precision.
Ha that means I'm lazy since I haven't swapped them yet.
We'll see what happens when I get some time off work.....(damn J O B )

OK I just got back from Baja where we did a side by side comparison of the CCP and the Precision . I have the precision and my son has the CCP. We both have 700,s with 23 fronts and 22 rears . We both have Elka front shocks so this is as close to the same as you can get. We ride desert , beach "sand" very rocky whoops and some pavement. After 7 days of riding we both felt that the CCP was as good as the Precision for 95% of the riders that would choose to use a stabilizer. The precision has 2 adjustments while the CCP has 1 . The CCP has smooth sweep thru out the entire turning range due to 1 adjusment. The precision allows you to adjust the center and outside to different adjustments . This can be tricky to get spot on . I have had to work with mine to get it right for the beach and rocky trails. The CCP is very easy to adjust due the that 1 adjustment . This comparison was done by one old guy and one young very fast desert rider. And as with any comparison it is just our opinion on what we encounterd. Both are exellent products and while I have had the precision for two years we just got the CCP. I have had 0 problems with the precision and the CCP has only about 25 hours on it so far with 0 problems. The true test will be as we out more hours on the CCP. At almost 1/3 the cost of a precision the CCP appears to be a real value. Once again this is only our opinion and we both feel the are exellent choices which ever you decide to buy.

Strut style are rebuildable
IMO the strut style are not worth it when a CCP is going for the same price as a strut style w/ 1 rebuild.

The CCP is high qaulity  8)

Couldn't agree more.. It's realy hard to say as I've never had a stick type, nor do I know the ride time before a rebuild is needed BUT. There's a reason all the pro's use the puck style vs. stick.

I had a PEP style stabilizer and sold it because it SUCKED ASS!!!! I had to take it off the check my oil :jaw: that was fun as shit, let me tell ya. It only had two setting, and  they were both stiff as hell!!

I got the CCP and could not be happier, I added a lock screw to the clamp last weekend for a little piece of mind.

My son and I just did a 700 mile ride in Baja. Lots of very rocky washed out roads and sand with some pavement. He cannot say enough good things about his CCP. The unit performed great with 0 problems. Ditto for my Precision. We now have over 1000 miles on the CCP and it is the best Value on the market. Notice I did not say the best stabilizer as that can be debated for ever but for the $$$$ the CCP is the best value.

I have a CCP stabilizer I bought this summer and I really like it. Mine came with a set screw in the steering stem clamp. I was told that they are fully rebuildable by the guy who makes them. I had zero problems mounting it and used lock tite where needed, it also looks great. It really makes a difference, definately worth the coin.
