My mount was trashed. Quad is an 06. The only reason I took mine apart was because I was changing the Steering stem. If anybodies stem has any play or is squeaking I would recommend you at least inspect your mount and regrease.

*bump*
is this to cure the annoying squeak i started hearing from just under the handlebars where the stem goes through a bushing? shortly after i got my raptor real muddy and cleaned it a few times mine started making noise from there.

After washing mine I lubed it with synthetic silicone spray & everything seemed fine. I noticed recently that my stem has play in it at the top mount, no dirt has a chance at getting stuck in there since I can see all the way around the stem
Well dang it.. How come no one's jumping on the bandwagon here? Hasn't anyone had the stinkin squeeky bar syndrome?

After I wash my quad I hit every moving joint with WD-40. Works damn good!

+1 i do the same.
Yea its hard to believe that no one else is having issues with a squeaky mount or a worn stem mount like mine.
I posted this GB info on another forum, 40 views in several days & no replies.
Just ahead of the times maybe......

I tried looking through my manual this weekend about that bracket seeing how often Yamaha recommended re-greasing their mount. I coulnd't find anything. I know my sock steering stem looks just like that. Worn out.
Thanks for the pics vermin88
A great example of what will happen to most everyone sooner than later.

I agree with vermin88. Just think how nice it would be to hit your OMI stem mount with a shot of grease  The steering stem mount sees crazy amounts of movement, debris, moisture, and the stem is put under load side to side front & back by the rider fatiguing Yamaha's mount.

It would be nice to hit 25+ sales but i'm impatient. What do you think TimelessR1,
should we close it down at 10?
I'm good with paying the $34 instead of the $30. My steering stem started moving recently...so the sooner for me the better..

It'd almost have to be a bearing system pre-attached though. not sure how else you'd get it on. ???
That'd be an awesome thing to have though.

I think it's one of those things where people have that mentatlity of "If it's not broke, don't fix it" for me. It's more of a security blanket. I've had to grease my stupid bar numerous times. this is a time saver :)
Paid today Krandall & TimelessR1
I think my stem mount is trashed from snow riding, I know it's hell on chains.
I don't use heated storage & everytime the Rappy gets parked the water on the chain freezes......
I think a lot of people will be surprised when & if they ever pop the stem mount apart to grease it. Preddy said he uses WD-40 to keep it quiet but I wonder what condition the mount is in?

I had mine apart a couple of months ago for a stem change and it looked just fine.

I'm always a little hesitant buying something that had engine work done to it. Unless you knew who did it, and made sur eit was done right. I usually perfer the bone stock ones. Hope though that your bro gets a good one...he still wont be able to beat you..
Yeah, its one of my best friends. (Groomsman in my wedding)
All the work was done by a local shop, Cylinder was sent out to trinity for boring.
if it wasn't his I'd be hesitant as I'm with you on those kind of deals, they are always a bit scary.
NIce...sounds like a good one then...and its a 04 too! Hey if you hear of anyone else intrested let me know...this thing is collecting way to much dust
