had a blast. Smoked a carrier bearing and rear sprocket, but still had a great time! I'll start with my favorite pic...more coming....

entrance to the park. Flag has to hit that crossbar as you enter...and be completely orange.

Pic of south camp area on wednesday. By friday afternoon...full. The place was packed!

shot of north area of "big dunes." (where my sprocket cracked in half)

pics no worky here :'(
Now, some bad news. Day two, we were out riding and I checked my chain as a normal precaution...noticed this: missing bolts. I though that was a little weird, so I putted back to camp and replaced with some new bolts. Rode some more....gone again...sheared right off. I had smoked the carrier bearing. YIKES! :help: So we replaced the carrier bearing and the sheared bolts, left one in there that was sheared. Rode all night thursday and mosy of morning when "crunch" no forward movement. :( Sprocket cracked and sheared the rest of the bolts. Found a Jeep to pull me back to camp (embarrassing). Took rappy to town to have bolts drilled out. Got a new sprocket and chain. Long two days!!!!!!!!
bolts gone from axle twisting when I would give it power and bearing shot, I assume.
Notice anything missing?
what a bearing should look like when you remove the carrier.
what the other side looked like :(
(http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff304/peels660/100_0818.jpg)
good one on the left, bad on the right. WOW!

Sounds like a rough 2 days to me! Looks like a sweet place to ride, got any more pics?

Welcome back.
Sorry to hear about your mechanical issues.

.
More pics tonight.
8) looks like it was a great time even with the mechanical probs, nice to see the grab bar in one piece
looks awesome!!!! :nana: i can't wait to hit it in april next year. glad to hear you made it back ok. and sucks to hear about your issues out there.
looks like alot of fun
the sand out there is so fine..it is almost liquid. Paddles are necessary if your quad has any power at all. Utitlity quads make it around OK.
This dude rolled up on an 08 with a feather boa on the flag and his visor upside-down. Crazy locals. Had a Ron Woods pipe with baffle removed-loud as f**k! He asked if I wanted an all raptor jumping pic. Hell yeah! :grin_nod:

we hit some mud, so rode into town and went to the car wash. plus, there was a train in the background, my little boy loves trains and quads...
last but not least...the runaway quads. We left them in neutral and let them roll. Banshee wins distance, Rappy wins speed. Backwards of real-life.

Nice pics, looks like so much fun! Glad you had a good time.
Sweet pics. Sucks about the mishaps but at least got her back and running. Thats from you boys riding in that mud and water lol. Save up some more and come hit some big dunes with us
Its about 15 hours from your place to KP in Rock Springs. Thats a really fun and cool place if the wind isn't blowing LOL. Then another 4 hours from there to Sand Mountain/Little Sahara, Utah or St Anthony, Idaho.

Correct, sandeater, Rode through a muddy creek in June...had the feeling they might need replaced. I wiggled and turned the axle listening for anything bad before I left. I even have a spare set in my toolbox. Do you think I was smart enough to bring them? f**k NO!!!!
nice pics and ill get out here someday

Well thats why it broke on you!! You left the spare part at home! It's ok that happens to me too :boat:
Glad to hear you had a good time! That baring pics gives me the creeps because I have seen that before. :(
One more, gotta love those wheelies. (No grab bars were harmed in the making of this photo)

yeah, I was throwing tools and telling my buddy to pack his $hit! Couldn't get the chain adjusted right. Then we noticed we had used the cooler of beer as a platform to work on the quad. We had to lift it up every time we needed one. Go look at the pic of the axle off, you will see the cooler, and a bud sitting in the sand next to it.

as long as you don't drink and ride.
 yeah, by the time I had it back together, I had to chill for a bit so I could go ride.
lol
Man who had all the parts in stock? Every time I go there I get raped because something breaks and I have to take it in the ass at the power sports shop.
Last year we were riding for 5 mins and I hit a NASTY jump and landed a little crooked and rolled the predator 5-6 times. I filp it over and all is well till I realize I broke my stock gas cap...lol. I went to the power sports store and a new billet one cost me about a hundred bones!
So you guys still planin on goin out in april? I know I am. I dont care if I'm by my self.
That is the plan.
Got the bearings and bolts at LSPS just north of the south camp. Chain and sprocket at some buggy shop in town. Not terrible. Bearings were maybe $10 more than they should be. Sprocket and chain seemed reasonable.
Great pics.
So when do we get the meth report?

Oh, by the way. You can not have liquor bottles on state park grounds. Jetmech bought me a $50 bottle of single malt scotch. GlenLivet-good stuff. Rangers saw it and made him pour it out. :( (luckily it was late and I had half of it gone. No complaining here just telling you guys. I had no idea. I would have put it away.

awesome picture.
Thanks jamboy. Little Sahara rocks for sure!
I have a few more decent ones. Uploading more now. Here is the first. This is close to the southwest end of the dunes.
This is the dune I believe destroyed my carrier bearings. I was hitting it pinned in 3rd and launching it, it would kick you sideways.
Here are some landscape shots. It is beautiful out there. Easy to forget you are in Oklahoma, not Egypt.
Think this is from the top of "buttercup" the biggest dune, at 70 ft.
notice the wind blowing the sand right above the ground. If it is windy, it will cover your tracks in just minutes. i love this pic. Check out the quads on the dunes in the distance. Gives you a scope of how big it is.
dunes in the morning. Peaceful...and georgeous  I am ready to go back.

No problems getting around for wolverines. Unless you have a ton of power, like us and no weight, then paddles are necessary, or you will spin all day.
The sand is incredibly fine, almost reminds me of cinnamon.
ok that's good to know. damnit i can't wait.
